Below, there are a few of highlights in Myanmar
- The heart of Yangon
One of the finest Buddhist shrines in Southeast Asia, Shwedagon Pagoda rules Yangon’s skyline. Layers of gold cover the pagoda that houses sacred relics.

Shwedagon Pagoda, one highlight of Myanmar
As you walk up the steps of the pagoda, buy flowers, candles, colored flags and streamers, and place them at designated containers. Think of it as a fair exchange for time well spent within this attractive, revered setting.
Other than that, Yangon is not only rich in major places or museums, but that’s okay. There are some interesting markets to walk slowly, and it’s an excellent place for people watching; find a tea house and relax while you observe the street life that passes you by. Myanmar travel packages
- Bagan
With over 2000 temples, Bagan may well be the highlight of your trip to Myanmar. Enjoy the area on your own, or get a guide with horse carriage to ride you around. Be sure to return for sundown, and ask to go to a temple that can be climbed on top of for a spectacular view.

The temples of Bagan are also mentioned in the same breath as Angkor Wat in Cambodia, but in all honestly this is not a fair comparison.
- Inle Lake
Inle Lake, located in the heart of the Shan Plateau, is a highland lake. It is located 900 meters above sea level. The lake is 22km in length and 10km in width, and inhabited by many different ethnic groups of the area.

With no roads or sidewalks to speak of, locals and travellers alike get around in one-person-wide wooden boats outfitted with outboard propellers, which generate a noisy whine when at full throttle and can be raised and lowered depending on water levels. Villages of simple single- and two-story wooden stilt houses straddle active waterways.
- Cuisine of Myanmar
Traditional Burmese cuisine bases on its own set of specialized ingredients. One of the culinary highlights of Burmese food is mohinga.

Mohinga
It’s a combination of rice noodles, submerged in a curry gravy sauce with a base of fish combined with many flavorsome ingredients such as ginger, garlic, onions, lemongrass, and a handful of dried spices as well.
